Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has officially communicated his stance on a potential summer transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports that the England international has told the Eagles he is keen to make the move to North London in order to play UEFA Champions League football next season.
The Daily Mail previously revealed that Tottenham have opened talks with Crystal Palace to sign Eze as a direct replacement for James Maddison, who recently suffered a season-ending ACL injury.
Eze’s contract includes a £68 million release clause, and he is tied to Selhurst Park until the summer of 2027. The 26-year-old joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 for €17 million and has since become one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking midfielders.
Last season, Eze featured in 43 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing 11 assists. He also lifted the FA Community Shield with Palace after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Liverpool.
Maddison Injury Blow
Tottenham confirmed on Thursday that James Maddison has been ruled out for the season after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament tear during a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in South Korea.
The midfielder went down in the 86th minute and was immediately substituted. Maddison, who joined Spurs from Leicester City in 2023 for €46 million, has been a key creative force, tallying 12 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances last season.
Since his arrival at Tottenham, Maddison has played 75 games, netting 16 goals and assisting 21. His absence leaves a major void in Ange Postecoglou’s squad heading into the new campaign.
